Use controlled wet diamond cutting only when cutting improves the intended specimen or lapidary project.
Tumble
Can tumble well when sound pieces are matched by hardness and fractures are screened out.

Can I use the same lapidary setup for agate, jasper and quartz?

Many hard-silica workflows overlap, but fractures, crystal form, specimen value, size and intended finish can change the safest tool path. Treat hardness as one input rather than the entire decision.

Why are geodes separated from ordinary quartz?

An intact geode is a structural problem as well as a mineral problem. Shell stability, cavity geometry and delicate crystals can determine workholding and cutting choices before mineral hardness does.

Why does petrified wood need its own equipment path?

Quartz-rich petrified wood can be hard, brittle, heavy and large. Large pieces create handling, capacity and feed-system requirements that are different from small cabbing rough.
