Can I use a metal detector for gold in Manitoba?

Gold panning and gold detecting are not the same activity
Gold prospecting on Crown mineral land is governed by Manitoba’s Mines and Minerals Act. A prospecting licence is required to explore for minerals on Crown mineral land; gold occurrence alone does not establish detector access, digging or recovery rights.
