COUNTRY FIELD GUIDE

Germany Rockhounding Map & Field Guide

Germany requires site-by-site access checks. Federal mining law excludes collecting minerals as hand specimens or small samples for mineralogical/geological collections from the statutory definition of prospecting, but this does not create a right to enter land or override property, nature-protection, heritage, quarry, mine or local rules.

Access rule: Public access, a map pin or a geological occurrence does not by itself create collecting permission. Follow the individual record and current landowner, operator, protected-area and posted rules. Country note checked 2026-09-09.
