Portugal recognizes geological values within nature-conservation law, and Natural Monument protection is intended to preserve geological heritage and the integrity of its features. Public geosites, museums and former mining landscapes are therefore mapped as viewing/managed destinations unless a current source expressly establishes collecting permission.
