Romania Rockhounding Map & Field Guide

Romania requires a conservative authorization-first approach. Article 53 of the national environmental emergency ordinance states that organized collection, acquisition or commercialization of mine flowers and plant or animal fossils may be carried out by authorized persons or legal entities under the law. Protected areas, land ownership, museums, geoparks and mine operators impose additional site-specific controls, so a geological occurrence is never treated as open collecting permission.
