Assam has unusually varied rockhounding geology: REE-bearing alkaline and granitic complexes, quartzite, pegmatite, sillimanite, quartz/silica sand, granite, iron ore and limestone. Current IBM exploration highlights Krogaon/Jashora, Chelear–Rongpham and Lido–Tikok–Tipangpani, while the state review documents broader district resources. This release does not classify any Assam locality as collecting-ready; mines, quarry permits, exploration blocks and forest/resource areas remain non-navigable.

Why Assam matters for rare-earth, granite, quartzite and sillimanite geology
IBM 2024 records a high-value critical-mineral exploration cluster in West Karbi Anglong, including the Jashora Alkaline Complex with perovskite, monazite, bastnäsite and pyrochlore, and Chelear–Rongpham granitoids carrying sphene, apatite, zircon and monazite. IBM also lists sillimanite in Karbi Anglong and Nagaon, quartz/silica sand in Nagaon, granite in Goalpara/Kamrup/Karbi Anglong and iron-ore resources in western Assam. The explorer therefore maps the geology while keeping regulated extraction and exploration sites distinct from recreational-access claims.

Assam has strong mineral and critical-mineral geology, especially in the Karbi Anglong–West Karbi Anglong basement complexes, Nagaon/Morigaon granitic terrain and Dima Hasao limestone belt. Many documented occurrences are exploration blocks, mines, quarry/permit areas, reserve-forest contexts or regulated mineral resources. A mineral occurrence is not permission to collect; verify land status, autonomous-council/forest controls, mineral rights and current state rules before removing material.
