The state lies in the Eastern Himalaya and exposes Daling/Gorubathan metasediments, high-grade gneiss-schist terrain and Gondwana windows. Government sources document copper-lead-zinc-silver at Rangpo/Bhotang, Dikchu and Pachekhani, graphite in western Sikkim, coal in the Rangit Valley, talc/quartzite, extensive dolomite-limestone, marble and sillimanite.
