Rockhounding geology in Delhi centers on the Aravalli/Delhi Ridge—hard Alwar quartzite with mica-schist bands and local quartz/pegmatite veins—and on younger/older alluvial deposits of the Yamuna and surrounding plains. The best exposed ridge areas are commonly notified forest, wildlife sanctuary or biodiversity-park land, while floodplain deposits are urban/environmentally regulated. This guide maps geology for research and viewing context only, not as permission to remove material.

Why Delhi matters for quartzite Ridge geology, quartz veins and Yamuna alluvium
CGWB describes the Delhi Ridge as the northernmost Aravalli extension, with thick-bedded Alwar quartzite locally intruded by quartz veins and pegmatite and interbedded with mica schist/phyllite. Delhi also contains a closed Chhattarpur alluvial basin, widespread older alluvium and sand-rich younger Yamuna floodplain deposits. GNCTD separately protects much of the Ridge as reserved/protected forest and Asola-Bhatti as a wildlife sanctuary, so geological evidence is kept separate from collecting rights.

Delhi is an urban Ridge-and-alluvium geology region rather than a conventional open mineral-collecting province. Official CGWB sources describe Alwar quartzite with mica-schist, local quartz/pegmatite veins, older alluvium, Yamuna younger alluvium and the Chhattarpur basin. Much of the exposed Ridge is notified forest or sanctuary/conservation land, so every Delhi record in this release is non-navigable and no collecting-ready claim is made.
